Lyric Éditeur™ is a Google Docs™ extension (Add-on) built to help songwriters craft better lyrics. It is what is called these days an "AI Agent" as it makes extensive use of artificial intelligence. It consists of seven Lyric Analysis algorithms that:
Check for the existence of a chorus and hook.
Check for pronoun "confusion."
Check for changing point-of-view.
Check for tense inconsistency.
Check for rhyming weaknesses or errors.
Run a statistical analysis of lyric "comprehensibility."
Check your lyric against recent genre chart toppers.
FYI: The Lyric Éditeur™ App does not access your Google Drive™, only the Google Doc™ where you type or paste your lyrics. The app itself does not have the ability to create nor delete any files in your Google Drive™. All the app does is send the text you type or paste into the doc, into a sidebar in the doc, and then on to the AI API (when you click a button to tell it to do so). For further information, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
The AI returns to the sidebar its "thoughts" on your lyric. Neither the lyric or what is returned from AI is saved by the app. In short, nothing in the app's code requests your data (other than what you paste in) nor saves your data.
To get the Lyric Éditeur™ Add-on, click the "Extensions" menu on any Google Doc™ and select Add-ons > Get Add-ons and search for "Lyric" and you will find our app. Or, simply click here.
Is Lyric Éditeur the only tool you need to get to be a better writer? Noooo! We strongly endorse the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and the work it does. Join the chapter nearest you (there's some 90). Even if you are too far away to attend their in-person meetings, you can join them on Zoom. The feedback you get in their meetings is invaluable as is their Nashville Feedback program. Getting a multiplicity of opinions on your work is essential to growing as a writer. Compare NSAI feedback to what you receive via this app. When you find unanimity of opinion, it's probably time for a rewrite!
